Water temp gauge wiring issue...

I put a fresh 350 4bbl in were the old 305 cfi once sat, just about got all of the bugs worked out except for the water temp gauge. The old one was not hooked up on the car when I got it, is there a connector floating around the engine bay I need to find...by the way there is alot of those random wires hanging all over the place. If that does not seem possible, is the connection a single wire or double and what color or colors am I looking for? Where about might I start looking? I had a single wire run from the engine to the gauge in my 78 blazer. If all else fails I guess I could pull the cluster and drop a new wire to the old temp sender that I had in the intake. Thanks in advance for any help.

i don't know about your particular application, but am gonna shoot from the hip with it anyways... normally, the coolant temp sender resides in the driver side head between the #1 and #3 plugs and is a single wire, probably green in color. you say you have a lot of random wires hanging around, but that could be the one. most likely it would run along the top of the intake in another bundle, so i'd start there...
