Low voltage???
I've been noticing that my voltage has been really low for the past few days so I decided to change my alternater. After I put the new one in I still had very low voltage (11 - 12 volts). Tonight coming home from work my voltage dropped extremely low and my car stalled out. I got it jump started and made it about 2 miles before it happened again. I checked my alternater fuse and i have voltage to all 3 wires coming from it. Since my motor is an 88 and my car is a 91 is there something I forgot to do to change the wiring over? Now my car doesn't seem to charge at all with either alternater. Can someone please help me???

Check votage at the alternator. That should be around 14v. You may have a bad alternator cable. Did this problem start right after the motor swap? Check that all your grounds to the motor are hooked up too.

The voltage I listed was checked at the battery and tyhe alternater. All my power and grounds are new 4 gauge. This problem just started a little over a week ago. I've had this motor in and running since spring now. what would cause the alternater to only put out 11 - 12 volts? Both did the same thing and both were relatively new. I know the problem has to be in the wiring somewhere but where do I look and what do I look for?
