85 Z28 with TPI convert to 93 LT1 HELP!!
I have a 1985 Z28 TPI one of the first. I've had it since new. The engine has finnally developed a knock and I have found a 93 350 LT1. The question is what do I need to get it running. I know I will need a new wiring harness but will I have to get a computer too? Can I use the 85 computer? Do I need a new chip for the computer. Is there a place I can go and get the parts I need? Thanks (this was my first new car and I would love to get it back)

Great project! If you have access to the donar vehicle, along with the motor grab the wiring harness and the computer. You can always source the harness and computer from a wrecking yard or purchase a new harness kit from Painless. Either way, it's more than a weekend plug and play project to get everything up and working correctly.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Should have mentioned in previous post... Check out the engine swap message board. LT1 swaps are covered there.

Also check out ls1lt1.com and other lt1 specific sites. Impala SS forums and such have info on swapping ltx motors into vehicles not originally equipped with same.
