350 w/ 305 COMPUTER??
350 w/ 305 COMPUTER??
I just recently purchased a 1985 Z28 Camaro with a 350. It originally had a 305 and I believe the computer is stock. Will the 305 work correctly with the 350 engine? If not, what would the differences be?

Carbureted? If so, you're fine. You could swap to a 350 prom and 350 knock sensor but you may not notice the diff.

Yes and no
If its the stock settings than yes. The first thing that comes to mind is the fuel injectors. I believe the 305 uses 19lb/hr injectors whereas the 350 uses 22lb/hr - therefore you will be running lean and I would not want to stomp on that badboy. There are a few other issues that others hopefully can be more specific about. Timing might be off a little...
If the guy before you had a custom chip burnt, than I would think you are okay.
I had recently done the 305 to 350 swap (tpi) and left the stock 305 ecm for the first two weeks. It ran strong, but not as strong as having the proper ecm...you could feel the difference for sure, in my case anyway.

if you don't upgrade the prom,at least bump up the fuel pressure or go to 22 lb hour injectors to make up the fuel difference between the two.Like he said the 350 will need more fuel than a 305,do something to at least get the computer back closer in range with the 350.
That sounds good to me. I never thought about the computer being for the wrong engine set-up until I started having problems a few days ago. I just bought a new computer because the other one had some fried circuits and the shop working on it said it's running good now. THANKS!
