Engine run-on with msd setup

Transmission: T56
Axle/Gears: 3.42
Engine run-on with msd setup
I have a 92 former TBI 305 car which is now a 355 carbed. when i break the switched 12v to the msd with a toggle switch the car will shut down otherwise it runs. the msd switched 12v is ran to a IGN spade in the fuse box. distributor is msd pro-billet ran directly of the msd
tried putting a diode in the switch 12v to the msd in case i was backfeeding no luck still does it.
yes i tried a different power source still does it (btw i checked it all with a voltmeter it didnt appear to be backfeeding). When i turn the key off even remove it, the alternator is no longer excited and does not charge and the fuel pump, fan, and gauges stop and it will run until it empties the fuel bowls on the carb
another thing i noticed it the SES stays on also until i flip the toggle switch off
could this be a problem with VATS??? help please TIA
