left headlight not popping up

Car: 84 trans am
Engine: 305 H.O. with small cam
Transmission: th350 with manual valvebody
Axle/Gears: 3:73's
left headlight not popping up

Ive had my TA for about 6 months now, mostly of which its been grounded cuz of a damned 700r4. But im about to get it going again and the left headlight right headlight dosent come up. The light gets power. The motor dosent spin at all, so yall think its just worn out springs and brushes, or a bad relay? Id hate to know its a bad motor, cz those suckers are expensive, even at a junkyard i was quoted 55 bucks. Just throw me some opinions guys

Check to see if you're getting power to the motor with the headlight switch on. If you are it's probably the brushes inside the motor - probably $1 or $2 at a JY for the whole switch. If no power it's probably the actuator relay or a broken wire.

I dont believe its the switch itself, b/c both headlights light up, just the left one dosent popup. Ill get out there some time and use my brothers fluke meter on the wires for the motor and see if its gettin juice. Ill trace that sucker down, lol.Isnt there are diagrahm in the chilton manual, cuz thats what i have, or do you know where all of the relays are.Thanks man.

When I said the "switch" I meant the one that's inside of the cover on the motor - the one that holds the brushes. On my '84 the headlight actuator relays are mounted on the fender well (though I have seen them mounted on the motor itself). Just follow the wires back from the motor to the relay. The "isolation" or master relay is mounted on a bracket near the radiator on the passenger side.
