big/little problem...........
i put in a new battery in, then spayed engine cleaner on the engine and rinsed it off with the hose i let it dry a few hours and went to start it and it clicked and then nothing so i figured i'd let it sit longer. well i let it sit a week and still nothing. i cant figure it out. the solenoid is getting power. it seems that everything has power but the instument panel, radio, ignition, power locks/windows, so i dont know, i know all the fuses in the fuse panel are still good.

i have had a simalar problem. be for you go bypassing vats make sure your battery posts are tight. i mean so tight you think the battery will crack, freaking box wrench and a breaker bar tight. i was about to drive to napa to replace my starter relay when a cascadecrew member segusted this. worked like a charm. these sidepost batteries SUCK.
PS hope it is this simple.

yea you will have power to those but when you turn the key it will click and go off. its your cables tighten them up. its like when the battery is almost dead everything works but you turn the key all you get is a click and everything dies. dont use plyers use a socket dont over tighten just tight enough you cant wiggle the cables up and down should start right up.

Wow, if you really think it may be bad connection at battery befroe you b reak something trying to tighten the crap out of it. Try taking it apart and cleaning connections. Then retighten. Always remember neg. off first and last to go back on.
The links I left you for vats are good info. What the problem is and easy to check is wire breaks off of switch. This stops vats from seeing resistance, it in turn turns off injector pulse or fuel pump and disables starter. The plug in the pic for vats seperate it, put you key in ing and read resistance. If you see an open replace the switch or add resistor.

I've had the broken wire at the switch happen in both cars and did the resistor bypass. You could replace ing switch, its a pita and if you pay somene runs close to 200 bucks. A pack of five resistors at radioshack was .99 . Read the pellet in the key and get one close as you can 15 % up or down is good. Again if you read back up the vats wire and see the resistance then its something else. Good luck.
