Coil wire cut
Coil wire cut
Ok, so I removed the pesky alarm system from my 91Z this weekend. It was cluttering my underdash.
After doing so, I found a white wire from my coil disconnected.
The coil has 2 plugs, both with a white and red (or pink) wire.
The one (on the drivers side of the coil, so to speak) is not even connected. And the car still runs. should this be and what are those wires to?
I am however, having an issue with my right turn signal indicator and high beam indicator light coming on when driving at night It comes on every so often. Usualy when I hit bumps. Plus my AMP gauge sometimes show a negative charge, But the alternator appears ok when checked the old fashioned way by removing the positive terminal to se if it dies. It does not.

Yes. all gauges work.
I guess I should say voltage gauge, not amp.
It sometimes wants to go to the discharge side. But only sometimes.
My concern is where does this wire suppose to go so I can just hook her back up.

The wire only reaches to my firewall just inside on the drivers side.
The coil, of course, has 2 sets of red and white wires. Which white one were you refering to? The one disconnected on mine is on the drivers side ,per say.
Is it possible that this may be the wire that powers my power mirrors, int lights, rear hatch release, power locks and rear view mirror lights not working? Just thought of that since I been trying to fix that issue also.

My first thought was to ask you about the tach. Second, was the (other)white wire which runs to the ecm. Anyway, check it against the electircal info found at the chevy thunder site. It may or may not help?

The one disconnected on mine is the smaller white wire.
Its saying on that site: "the smaller pink and white wires which goes to the 2- wire connector on the ignition module on the distribitor."
Where is that?
