distributor cap

I have a small cap Remote Coil style Computer controlled HEI Distributor.
the thing i was worried about is the size of the air gap between the rotor button and the posts inside the cap, its about 4mm. every other rotor button and cap i have seen has a very small gap approx 1mm.

now because i live in australia i'm finding it dificult to locate a cap and rotor the same so i can have a look at the gap, if someone would be able to look at the gap and tell me if it is normal that would be great
Thanks Ross

I had the same distributor/coil setup when it was stock and it was about 4mm.. this should not pose a problem but if it's factory original it has the funky aluminum terminals and these are not very good at all. I would get an ACCEL cap (they come with a new rotor) even if I had to order one.
How is it running?

it is running obut i am chasing some more revs out of it, the motor is in a boat and should rev to about 5000 but only gets to about 4000 i have just started to replace all of the normal things for maintenance eg spark plugs, cap, rotor . thats when i noticed the gap and i wasn't sure if the person i had bought it off had put the wrong cap and rotor on it.

If its WOT and only 4000 you may want to try a differant pitch prop.

i did check the prop the size and it is a 13 x 13 3 blade and that is the correct prop for the boat originally, that was my first thought also.
