i have an lt1 alt lying around and ive seen alot of post about wiring it up...now i didnt do a swap its still an 89 l98 motor but it has a low amp alt on it now...do i have to add the resistor inline or will it work fine just pluging it in? red and tan/white wires...thanks and yeah this is my first post i owned a 4th gen for several years now i finally got what i wanted 89 iroc!

 

If you look at the alternator connector,the pins are labled S-F-L-P,
the lt1 alternator only has a one or two wire hook up. Camaro lt1,wire going to L terminal (needs 12 volts when ignition is hot) and a thick wire coming off a stut and bolt on the back of the alt to the bat. Firebird- TA lt1, Same12 volts on L terminal but the battery cable also goes tru the connector to. Which ever one all as u have to do is forger about the L terminal (light terminal) cut it off, put 12 volts when ignition is hot into the F terminal (field terminal). And the alt will work fine. Or you could leave the 12 volts going into the L terminal and add the resistor inline, this is said to also work.
