altenator problems

I have a 91 camaro with a carbuerated 355. during this swap my altenator plug must have been cut off. So I bought one from oreilys. my problem is that my battery will not stay charged. I have the large wire coming from the post of the back of the altenator which goes to the battery. Now the plug has a black, brown and red wires. Where do these three wires go the brown one goes to fan-fp. how about the other red and black wire.

The brown runs to the Fan-fp and the red runs to the battery and the other red should run down to the starter ..its connected with a fusible link then attached to the positive post on the starter.Thats all I know of,not sure about the other remaining wire?..I have a Red/Red or Black/Brown wires.
