Missing Keys what do I do????
Missing Keys what do I do????
Not sure if this is the right forum? I have a car that has been sitting in my backyard for a while. I have moved since and lost my keys to the car during the move. I was wondering what I would have to do in order to get keys so I can start my resto. I really want to get done with this car but I am concerned as to the fact that it might not be worth anything now that I dont have keys to it. The car is a 1992 Camaro RS Anniversary edition. Dont know if that matters. Please help me out I am a thirdgener in distress.....

if you are really desperate you might try contacting the previous owners.I don't know about the rest of you,but I always tend to have an extra set or two laying around for all my previous cars.Even long after I have gotten rid of them.I'll bet if I looked hard enough I can still find keys for cars that I got rid of decades ago.Just an idea.Wow,am I really that old???

If the car has the notorious VATS system you can take the title down to the dealer and they will give you the correct key number(its a number ,not the resistance number).Either by-pass it or purchase a new lock and cylinder...you will have to take the dummy keys(ones with the cylinder) and they usually have the coded keys on the shelve just tell him you need a number 1-15 and cut the grooves from the dummy key into it.If the car doesnt have it ....never mine..

that sucks. I had :lost my keys at a party once. I had to replace the lock cylinder just to move it home. While I replacing the radiator, I found a spare set stashed away, Lucky I didnt have to change the door locks, but I am anyway.

Yup...Vehicle Anti-Theft System ..You will need to show proof of ownership to the dealer to get the correct key code number.Thats your first move..the car wont start till you do this.
