OEM Keyless Entry

Was there a factory keyless entry option available?

I would like to add keyless entry to my 91 Firebird without hacking up any wires (trying to keep everything original).

If not, is there an aftermarket system that is "plug-n-play" - no wire cutting?

I don't believe there ever was a factory keyless entry option for the thirdgens. I also am unaware of any plug and play aftermarket systems. I do know that 93 s10 blazers have a factory keyless entry system that could be added easily and with a little work made to plug and play with the third gen door locks and hatch release. Mike

no factory keyless offered, but i added a keyless entry about 2 weeks ago, took about 15 minutes, no hacking of wires, just have to splice 3 wires into existing wires. very easy and works great.

Any details on the install? What brand and model did you use?

the brand was valiant, i think you can get it from jc whitney, seriously took about 15 minutes to install, but it took about 1/2 hour to find the correct wires, but still easy

4th gen keyless entries from the '93-96 models will work, just tie in the module to the lock wires and hatch wires, get power to the box and keyless entry. A buddy of mine did this to his Camaro, and we're going to hook it up also to my GTA, possibly looking at using a 97+ BCM from a Trans am so I get the fading light, security and all.
