new motor something smoking???
ok so i have a new motor in when i went to crank it over something from behind the passenger side head started to smoke so i stoppped cranking it over, the ground wire got really hot really fast i dont know whats drawwing so many amps and its only when cranking the key was on for a while and everytime i cranked it it smoked and i jumped out looking for the problem. could my starter be bad or distributer timing be alittle off it cranked fine so i just dont know Any ideas????????

I blow my one at the first cranking of my engine two
, but, it could be a bad grounding, check if the engine is properly grounded (the ground is normaly on the right side on the right-upper bolt of the transmission and in front near the alternater)

Sounds like you forgot to hook the negative battery cable to the motor or it is loose.
