Hey what's this wire for??
I replaced my a/c compressor today. My old compressor has an electric plug on the back, as well as a two prong plug on the a/c clutch. The new compressor replacement doesn't have the plug on the back. Now the clutch won't engage and suck in my new freon. Anybody know what this is and if it could be causing the clutch to not engage?

high pressure cut out switch. yes it will prevent the clutch from coming on. you will need to transfer it from the old compressor. empty the refrigerant remove the snap ring and pull the switch out. Mike

whats neat is that it also looks like a knock sensor plug and also like some of the thermostat housing mounted temperature sending units for the ECM
good luck
