Dead V6
Well, I drove my car to work, everything running good, and when I went to move it, NO START!! The key does nothing, no click, nothing. We tried push starting it, it is a 5 Spd. Pushed 100 feet in 2nd gear, still nothing. Fuel pump comes on, check engine light on, seat belt and brake lights come on. No security light, tho..... Anyone had this happen suddenly before? I can't imagine what would cause BOTH no crank and no spark (I'm assuming no spark here). Vats fuse good, crank fuse good, also
I have been trying to solve a hesitation problem, and have replaced practically everything except the ECM.
Any ideas?????
Thanks for any help

Just got done replacing my ignition switch cause I jumped into mine when it was really hot inside and had no power windows/alt not charging/brake light on/temp gauge needle buried.Turned off/on again everything fine??..that was weird. So I riped it out and in went a new one,not going to trust it anymore..If all your fuses and fusable links are good I would check out the ignition switch.

Un-Dead V6?
I had someone look at it from our shop, he did a lot of tests, and everything checked out, so he said. I had it towed to the local Chev dealer, and before I could get home, they were calling me with a diagnosis. The wire in the lock cylinder was bad, so they are replacing the cylinder, which will require a new key. $397. +tax. Oh, and $42 for a second key...
Should be ready by 3:00.
I never had a security light on, I'm gonna check the bulb. I have a dash light out, so while the cluster is off, I'm gonna replace them all....

Security Light (VATS)
Seems the light works fine, now that the wire is fixed. They had a dummy key with the cylinder, and when you try to use it, the security light comes on and stays on. Then the system won't re-set for 2-4 minutes, so even if you try the right key, it won't start. If you try the right key before the timer expires, it will re-start, and you have to wait another 2-4 minutes.
Seems like a pretty good system, but in most PROM burning sites I see, the first thing they do is get rid of the VATS. You can't even hot wire it, because the computer won't pulse the injectors. Good protection from thieves, but bad for you if it malfunctions, because you are STUCK!!! I know I was
