we replaced the steering column in an 89 iroc, the old column had vats on it so we got a column off a 89 rs that has vats on it to be sure everythin would work right, well we get the new column in and the car will turn to the on position and the fuel pump will come on but when you turn the key forward to start it it does nothing it wont crank, i figured this might be a vats problem but the new column has vats and has a vats key with it, and the security light dosent even come on now, i thought if it was vats the security light would come on and stay on but it dosent even come on now. any help is appriciated because we need to get this on the road.

 

VATS is just that, VATS! If I could use my key to start your car then why use VATS??? You might need to go to the dealer and have the systen reprogramed

 

this is true..you did not use the pass key box...which is used by the key to identify by it

 

we still have the 89 rs parts car, do we need to get the box off of that car to put on the iroc, if so were is it located.
