Do you have an auto or manual trans? With the auto trans you will need to hook up a new way to control the lock-up feature of the trans. Other than that just remove the carb all sensors and distributor. Replace the distributor and carb with non-computer controlled parts.
i did pretty much that same thing here is a small list
New Distributor one with a Vaccum Advance
New Fuel Pump (electronic out of tank is best)
Fuel Pressure Regulator
MAP and MAF dont matter.
New Intake Manifold
Youll also need to make a Lock Up switch or buying one from Summit just look up Torque Converter Lock Up and there are articals that will tell you how to make them. If youcant find it PM me i have a link to one
Dont need a MSD but if your going to do it might as well spend a little extra.
Youll get to lose alot of wires but i would recommend paying someone to move them for you if not youll get into quite a mess TRUST ME.

Timing for the last of power or not havng the carb set right. Do 1 1/2 to 2 turns from closed on the mettering valves.
As fo rthe shifting is it all carb now or is it still computer controlled, if its jsut carb its yoru TV cable

whats the metering valves??? its still computer controlled yes. whats the tv cable? i dont know crap when comes to carbs. so carb could be lose of power and dieseling?
LOL its ok dude thats why we are here.
Mettering valve the two screws on the front of the carb, Start the car and turn them all the way in one at a time. Once its all the way in turn it 1 and 1/2 turns to 2 turns out You'll here it and where ever it sounds best. Do the left side (passanger side) first then the right side.
TV cable - there are two cables on teh old TBI. One is the trottle cable and the other is the TV cable. I fyou can take a picture of the carb from the drivers side and the front and i can explain it better.
Carb and timiing are usually the reason for loss of power. Carb is fuel and air so of course less full less power, and timing if the engine is not firing and pumping right it would be like trying to inhale while getting hit in the somatch. You can do it but its not going tobe as productive.
Might be fule pump as well does it idle fine but as you step on it it dies. I guess i need to see your set up, let me see how you have it set up now
