Taking back my car! Removing Computer Control
Hi, I've searched the first 20 pages of this board and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have an 87 Camaro that came with a 305 carbed. I just dropped a 350 in it. It's carbed and has a vaccuum advanced dizzy. I want the least amount of wires as possible and still drive my car. I've looked all over but can't find what I'm looking for.
I have the 700R4 transmission. If I wire the torque converter lock up switch (the A - F toggle), will it work with the ECM not being connected? Or will I have to leave power to it and just not hook anything up? If I can get it to work, will switching the toggle off unlock the TC or do I have to make some sort of unlock switch?
Another thing, Will the fan kick on without the ECM hooked up or do I have to wire it up to a toggle or just hook it up so its on when the car is on?
Any help will be appreciated, I really want to drive my car w/o worrying about frying my TC or anything else.
Thanks in advance for everything

I am just finishing up doing the same thing to my '87 LG4 (only I put a 400 in).
Just unplug the ECM and toss it. Any wiring that came from the ECM into the engine bay can dissappear. I am running the fan with a hypertech fan switch in the driver's side head. Lockup is controlled with a B&M kit I got from a friend. Jeg's and Summit both carry it, and a few site sponsors prolly do to, so check with them.

in lue of the kit the switch will work, as will the fan switch idea. however both of these things will make driving your car a little "high maintinence". i have my 2nd fan on a switch and i am constantly monitoring my temps to see if it is needed or not. it gets anoying.
