Help with EST wire! Won't run with it connected.
I transplanted a TPI setup into my chevy truck. IT's from an 86 TPI I believe. It won't hardly run with the EST wire connected. Disconnect it and it runs fine. I might have a wire hooked up wrong somwhere. I didn't hookup the knock sensor. Any clues? WHat/how should I check to see what's going on. I can't seem to figure it out. I'm about to the point of setting the timing to like 32 degrees and leaving the est wire disconnected. Might have to put my ign on a switch so it'll crank over. Please help. Thanks fellas

TRY HOOKING UP THE KNOCK SENSOR,I BELIEVE THIS IS REQUIRED TO RUN YOUR 86 SETUP

What is the base timing set at with the EST wire disconnected?? If its set properly, your balancer might have slipped.. You might want to verify that #1 TDC is actually reading 0* on your balancer..
I've been moving the timing around. It doens't matter what it's at. It won't run with the EST wire connected. I thought it might have slipped but that doens't change the fact that it will not run with it connected and runs perfectly when disconnected.

I wonder if there is a problem with the ignition module... You might try swapping one out with a known good one... Could be that the module isn't reacting properly to the advance signal from the ECM??
