Horn not working???

Hey...I bought a horn for my car and I know it works because I tested it on a car in the Junkyard before I bought it...so...I hook it up and it still dosnt work...I'm thinking it's the horn relay that needs replacment...I know its something like $11 from GM no biggie...but where is it?...I hope it's not in the steering column because I've seen that thing taken appart before and it looks like something beyond my skill lol...its an 85 Trans Am....thx guys

The horn relay is above the drivers right knee. Remove the panel above your shin. Then, look to your right from the steering column. There will be a panel with a white square relay above the buzzer box. Remove the buzzer box to access the horn relay. Plug and play. Hope that cures your horn problem.

Another common horn problem area is the horn ring and contact under the horn button on the steering wheel. If the relay replacement doesnt get your horn honking, pop the horn trim ring off and look for broken or missing parts there. Sometimes the spring under the contact ring fails or the contact is not completing the circuit.... just eliminate one thing at a time.

If you havent already, order or pick up a Haynes repair manual for your car. They're cheap and a fairly good source for common repair items. I've worn mine thin.

Good luck
