Car won't start

I just replaced my oil pump in my 87 Camaro with a 400sbc bored .060 over. ( due to high oil pressure ). I started the car 2 days ago with the tranny not connected and it ran perfectly. I put the tranny back on and now it won't start. I get power to everthing BUT the stuff that comes on when i turn the key sush as windshild wipers, no click no nothing. And i have autometer tach and speedo and the tach usually zeros out when key is turned but not anymore! Please help.

You need to do a thorough examination of all wires around the installation. Something got knocked off, shorted or disconnected. Pay particular attention to grounds - Engine to Chassis. Check your fusible links - try to jump your starter to see if engine cranks over. Start working back from there, if engine cranks.

Any chance it could that the ignition switch is broken?

check your park/neutral switch to see if it is properly adjusted. These are symptoms that you would get if not.

I wouldn't suspect the ign switch as a primary 'culprit' - at least not yet....
DO as Corky mentioned - check for any grounds that may have been severed, silver braids from engine to firewall, connections at the starter, connections at the alternator etc, etc... Fusible links too, look for discolouration for burnt out ones, cracks or frayed lines etc etc...
Check the fuse panel/box for power - check all the 'Hot' terminals - look for power.

Any certian fuses i should check, because during the first time i started it i forget to attach that ground towards the back of the motor ( Silver Braid ) and the wierd stuff happend like i hit the carb post that sticks out so you can put on the air cleaner, with the air cleaner and it reset the battery... but i hooked it back up and it doesn't do that...

My 87 firebird had 3 or 4 inline fuses under the hood, near the firewall pass-through connector (next to brake booster).
