do 87s use the "weatherpack like" relays that the late cars have (like my 91/92) or the earlier ones??

Been there before slowdeath I had same problem with my old car(87 IROC) it was very frustating. This was before I found TGO as well. All of my relays on the firewall had loose connections&bare wires about 1" past the relays.2 years ago I would have told you to use a small screwdriver &pop out each term. &heat shrink it then pop it back in.But today I would say,Try TPI parts. They have an advertisement on this site on the home page,I have bought a few things from them on my current project&they have been very knowledgeable &helpful.Thats all I know&good luck.oh yeah, forgot to add that make sure you have something like gas or thinner around to clean up your hands cuz there is some nasty black stuff in each of the relay terminals that doesn't come off with soap or hand cleaner alone
