Oil Pressure sending unit.

I was looking on AutoZone’s web site for the sending unit and they have what they are calling an Oil Pressure Switch is this for an idiot light or is the sending unit with a bogus name. A switch is either on or off and the sending unit must vary with pressure correct?

Thanks

In some years a combination sending unit/fuel pump switch was used.

Speak to a tech if you can. I went and bought a similar item for a 71 buick motor. They kept calling it a "switch" cuz thats what the catalog said. However, the next question was, is this for a light or a gauge? Just specify its for the gauge, they will take care of it. If it says switch, and only one option is given, try sending unit.
