Trunk Motor Not Working

Hello All,
I am having some trouble with my trunk motor is not engaging so that the trunk will lower down. I have had some problems with this before and have replaced it some years back. This time I think what caused it was a wire that i ran from a push start swicth i ran from the fuse box and to the starter got alittle too close to the exhaust pipe and melted alittle and after driving the car around the block i got it home turned it off, then back on and got no response. No turning over nothing so I checked the lights to see if they came on, they worked the trunk release worked and I looked at the starter and noticed the wire I ran to the solenoid was alittle melted so I took that off and the car started again. After that the trunk motor will not work anymore. It will not engage the motor to make contact with the trunk to bring it down. I took the panel off and the motor was pretty hot I disconnected the wires to it and allowed it to cool down but I have checked all the fuses and none seem to be burnt out any advise would be helpful the trunk does close but not all the way down and when I click on the release switch inside the car all i hear is the click no motor movement.. so please help i am open to hear your input in this situation

Easy on the caps. I have had bad luck with the pull down unit also. First check the wiring. Is it grounded? If so make sure all the other wires are connected. There is a blue one leading to a red one. Make sure thats hooked up. There is a lever thing in front of the latch itself. Try pushing that in. If you need pics ill get them for you. I hope I could help.
