Last night, I was driving home. I noticed my light were geting very bright upon hitting bumps. I also noticed that the battery gauge would go up as well durring this time to 17- 18. By the time I got home only the parking lights were working. The head lights still go up and down when I turn them in, but the head lights do not turn on. I checked fuses thats not the case. I was thinking it could be a fusable link under the car, but I wont have the time for that till the weekend but i need the car to be up and going now. Does any one have any ideas on whats going on? Its on my 84 transam

 

Standard wiring checks, look for loose connections on the headlamps themselves, check the relays, etc. Usually its the headlight motors that give you trouble, not so much the headlamps themselves. If you do a search, I think there are electrical diagrams up for the entire headlamp system, motors and beams.

 

Somehow you overvolted the whole car. You burned out your headlights. Buy new ones.
