VATS BYPASS
If I wanted to bypass the vats where could I get the resisteors from? I tried getting the reading off the key but I dont know if it is right. What should the multimeter be set on to check it?

Set it the lowest range on the OHMs scale, that gives you a reading other than OL(overload). If it doesn't give a good reading on one scale bump the scale up one.

If your key reads in one of these ranges you did it right.
Radio shack.... or you could buy a potentiometer (variable resistor) from radio shack and superglue it on the right setting.

Tell me if I understand this procedure correctly. There is a two wire connector on the steering column that the VATS reads the resistance of the key through. All you need is to find the resistance of your key and jump the connector with the proper resistor and everythings fine? No problem with the computer seeing that the circuit is always made? Just bought a 89 RS and only got one key, and hate to get ripped for a hundred plus for an ignition key!!
