gauges quit while headlights are on

I have a 92 rs and I installed a 145 mph cluster from a z28. When im driving during the day everything works fine but when i turn the headlights on the left turn signal doesnt show that its on and the speedo sticks at the speed i was going when the lights turned on. this is quite a pain in the a**

Sounds like you might have a bad headlight ground. That's what I would check first.A bad ground can cause weird problems.

its prob your new cluster, mayb your cluster has a little short in it, take it back out and reinstall the old one, see if the same problem arises.

well a short in the cluster may be unfixable because it could be in the little circutry, what you can do is swap out parts from the bad cluster to the good cluster, like just switch out the speedo from the bad cluster and install it into the good cluster and your good to go. ive got 3 different clusters and one cluster has a short, so i just pulled the good gages from it and put it in another cluster that i know has no shorts.

i had the same problem with you my friend.finally i found that the problem was in the fuse box under the dash.more specific...just change and reinstall the fuse that has the "gauges" identification.in my car when i push that specific fuse to the bottom end of the box..my gauges wont work...when i took it backwards...in a specific point the gauges work perfect!!!check it out!!
