Engine back in, no spark. LG4 Carb.

I've just put the engine back in my 87. Everthing wired correctly as far as i can see. cranks but no spark. is there a easy method for testing the module in the distributor and the spark control module near the l/h fender. Parts are only available by post where i live in the uk.
Any help and advise greatly appreciated

Some shops can test the module. These parts shouldn't go bad from an engine swap though. I assume you pulled the dist in the swap process? I'd double check all your connections and verify 12 volts to the coil. I've been stumped myself on occasion only to find I'd left off a lead somewhere.

The dist. was pretty mucky inside. cleaned it all up fitted new rotor and cap, new plug leads, just found some info on autozone site. gonna retest pickup coil and main coil, double check all wiring connections. according to auto zone the fault is probably in the dist. either the module or coil..

It's a small cap. When you took it apart how did it look inside? The pickup coil/reluctors on these can get corroded with brittle insulation. Taking it apart and cleaning it could have been the last push it needed to die.

the pickup coil is still in one piece, although looks fragile. the reluctors? i guess the magnet sensors were rusted. i cleaned them up carefully with emery cloth and blew dust out with air line. Gonna check coils now as it will be dark here soon.

Both coils checkout ok. with resistance values spot on. Looks like it may be the module in the dist. or the electronic spark control!
New module should arrive today, Hope it works!
