The link above has some aftermarket-sending units. The one you need goes from 0-90 ohms. The dealer also sells them but they want $630 for the one for my IROC. I was able to rig one a got from Autometer to work with my car although I had to get an Autometer gauge to work with it, because of different resistances. If I had known of the ones at summit I probably could have rigged those to work as well and kept the original gauge.

i just found an auction in ebay but is says that is is for 1988 injection model.maybe i can buy that one and use only the resistance to replace mine on my sender unit.both 1983 and 1985 use the same gauge.so it must fit!

The sending units on these things are the worst I've got 2 from a junk yard and I've had 2 89 camaros and the sending unit was bad on all of them.

Re: ..FUEL SENDER UNIT...
i am looking for an 84 sending unit as well. i am putting it in an 85 iroc that had a 305 tpi but i put in a 350 carb engine and i would like a stock sending unit so that the pick up tube is the correct length. right now i have a rubber hose where the electric fuel pump used to be and i am sure it isnt the correct length and also the fuel gauge is messed up so i am wanting to replace the whole unit. i also need one so i can copy it for my 87 GTA where i am putting in a 427 lsx block that is suposedly going to produce mid 700 horse and i need a half inch ID line comming out of the tank so i want to copy the original 3/8 sending unti just with 1/2 inch ID line with an external aeromotive A1000 pump so i never have to take my tank down again. any help would be appreciated as i have also looked and checked with the dealer even and this part is nowhere to be found and discontinued from GM.
