High Beam Switch broke... need help
Got low beams fine. But the switch in the colum broke for high beams. Not really a problem but I have to have it inspected by the 15th. Need to wire something something fast. I'm looking toward to just hard wire them with a toggle. But if I knew what wires make the contact to turn them on could make my life easier. If not I'll have to run a hot to the toggle and ground the both lights. Any advice or wire diagram would be great.
Sorry, I have a 1992 Z28 5.0 TPI. All power with air bag.

The switch is not really "in" the column, but rather at the bottom of it. It's a PITA to replace, but easier than "rigging" something.
Open door, and lay seat all the way down. Take off the under-column cover (heavy one), and the plastic cover above the pedals. Crawl in with a 7mm nut driver, 1/4" socket wrench with a 7mm socket, and a small short flashlight (that you can hold in your teeth). Get feet at the top of seat, and head in the floorboard (upside down). Move the lever on the column, and watch for the metal rod that moves - at the bottom it moves in/out of a switch - that's the one.
It may not be broke, simply gotten lose and moved some, which keeps the metal rod from depressing the switch far enough - try adjusting it. If that doesn't work, replace with a GOOD one - like Carquest or Napa part - the Autozone/Advance switches are junk, and it's too much a PITA to do again in a month (ask me how I know).
ONE IMPORTANT THING - the little bolts are selftapping sheet metal screws - don't overtighten and strip them, or then you'll be up a creek! Just enough torque to keep the switch from moving.
You'll get all kinds of cramps doing it, and cuss alot - but it should only take 20 minutes or so (depending on how many cramps you have to work out), and you'll be good as new.

Thanks man! Sounds good and not to hard. I'll have a few beers to help with the cramps before hand. The real cramps will be when I drop another motor in this summer! Thanks again
