Help needed to find speed sensor wire and rev counter wire

Hi All,

I know third gen.org are great at sorting out problems and have a vast amount of cumulitive knowledge.

i have a 1991 firebird 3.1 V6.

My problem is this: I'm trying to wire up an aftermarket Cyberdine digital speedo and velleman digital rev counter into my dash. I have everthing ready to install but i cant locate the wire that sends the speed signal and rev counter signal to wire up to my new gauges.

When i removed my old cluster, there are 2 14-pin connectors that plug into the clusters printed curcuit board. Where will i find the signal wires. i've looked at the wires going into the connectors and drawn a diagram with the rough colours on.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Peter

I'm pretty sure the white wire is the tach wire, I'll verify when I get home and check the GM service manual tonight. I'll have the VSS wire too.

Cheers. i've found the speedo wire. it was the yellow one coming from the back of the transmition. still having difficulty finding the tach. when you say white, you mean white from the back of the 14 pin socket connector? so i could just take it from there?

Cheers

Open the ATGO wiring diagram page, scroll down to the instrument panel diagrams. You'll find pinouts there for those two connectors. Courtesy of myself truly. I got tired of not knowing what pin is for what so I compiled this simple diagram.

Hope this helps.
