Brake lights remain on and defroster turns on.

If anybody can help me it was be great. I have a 1986 Camaro Iroc with the 305 TPI engine. The problem I am having is when I connect the 3rd brake light, located on the hatch outside for this year. When I hit the brakes the 3rd brake light and taillights remain on after I release the brakes. Also at the same time of hitting the brakes the defroster turns on. When I turn the defroster off the brake lights go off. I can't turn the defroster off while applying the brakes. This only happens when the 3rd brake light is connected and the light blubs are in place. Without the 3rd brake light connected the taillight work fine. I tried replacing all the bulb and tried only one blub in each slot. I wanted to know if I have an electrical problem or short, or replacing the 3rd brake light assembly would fix the issue. I currently have it disconnected so I can drive it and not **** off other drivers. Any help would be welcomed greatly. If anybody has had this happen or has any suggestions I am all ears.

Re: Brake lights remain on and defroster turns on.

I figured it out after searching the electronis thread for defroster. I found another post were somebody said to look at the defroster wiring. I found that on the the passenger side strut for the hatch that the connector had came out. I reseated the connector and tested and all is well. Everything is back to normal.
