Re: changing drivers side mirror?

In order to change the mirror you have to take the door panel off, with the window in the up position, you can access the nuts on the inside of the door shell for the mirror.

Re: changing drivers side mirror?

If your plan is to swap the entire mirror housing, then strokermotor91 is correct. You can replace just the mirror and plastic backing piece without removing the mirror housing.

Re: changing drivers side mirror?

Move the mirror to the extreme limit of travel down and you'll see a cross-shaped metal piece that snaps into the molded plastic backing behind the mirror. Pop that free and the mirror and backign will come off. I've purchased replacement glass from Pep Boys for far less than the dealer charges. For the drivers side an aftermarket replacement mirror will be fine. I've noticed that the lettering on the passenger side of the aftermarket mirrors is a bit blurred compared to OEM. Once you've replaced the glass the entire mirror backing just snaps back onto that cross-shaped piece. Use a towel on the glass to protect you in case it breaks. Note, these instructions are valid for the later style mirrors. Early mirrors had a hidden screw under the mirror glass. You had to break the glass to remove them.
