Trunk is possessed

wow-what better way to get someone to read a post, than to put the word possessed in it. ha. Anyway here's my problem. My trunk was fine until i opened it one day then *poof* a loud humming noise, and the trunk wouldn't shut off. The motor is stuck on open, I've tried tapping it, nothing... bought a new relay for it, still nothing. Is the motor bad?!? anyone else had this problem? help I've had to unplug it so now it latches but it doesn't close and it rattles while i'm driving.

Re: Trunk is possessed

Your problem is the plastic gear nut inside your hatch pulldown unit went bad. TDS sells the part for like $7

Re: Trunk is possessed

TDS = Top-Down Solutions. Motor continuously running without the latch portion moving up and down = bad gear nut.

Click on my sponsor link on the right-hand column of this page and you'll find all the parts you need to repair your pull-down unit. You can also take a look at the Tech article I wrote on this web site to understand how to properly disassemble the pull-down unit.
