Horn, door locks & rear view light not working...

Hello, could really use some help. My horn, automatic door locks and rear view mirror light are not working on my 92 Pontiac Firebird. Can anyone help me figure out how to fix this problem? Thank you.

Re: Horn, door locks & rear view light not working...

Thanks so much for all your help guys! I found out on another forum that it was my ACC fuse and now it works and I didn't have to take it to my mechanic either and spend money I can't afford to get it fixed.

You guys are real gems.

Sometimes it takes more than a day to get a response in the less popular forums... But I guarantee that you would have found numerous threads on the subject if you did a search in this forum. We've rehashed this one many many times.

My apologies...it was all my fault for not searching out the answer to the question I should have known to search for...please forgive me.

A search on the term "Horn Not Working" would have given you the answer in the second search result.

I'm sorry it took so long for your post to be seen, but there's only so many people browsing who have the answer and are browsing through every subforum every day. If you'd waited 46 more minutes I would have given you the same answer on the ACC fuse when I came across this post... but bashing this board's effectiveness is not going to curry you favor in having posts answered quickly.

Re: Horn, door locks & rear view light not working...

Did you feel "bashed." Again, I will apologize for speaking how I feel. I waited for a response. I did not do a search on my horn not working because I didn't know to do one. I was given the answer in no time on another forum and wanted you all to know that because it would be nice to have that kind of response here. Hence my message above that you apparently took offense to. It was a sincere sarcastic hint is all. No need to put me down for my feelings and accuse me of "bashing" the board's effectiveness. Just step it up a notch because in all reality, I could have gotten into an accident waiting for an answer on my horn. I know that you are probably doing this voluntarily...and my asking for an answer fast sounds pretty witchy (for lack of a better word), but I and other people need to come here with their questions in the hopes of receiving a response quickly. Its the whole reason this place exists, isn't it? Thanks and your responses have been noted.

Re: Horn, door locks & rear view light not working...

No offense taken here, I'm just saying that throwing in a sarcastic "I found a better board" post doesn't make people want to answer your questions any faster in the future (even though there was no response here).

The fact of the matter is that this subforum isn't as fast as some and it may be that you just lucked out wherever else you got the answer. When I'm not getting the response I hoped for in a thread I'll usually go to other boards until I get what I need. You have to understand though, that all car forums run on the same principle and since it is all on a volunteer basis, you have to expect there's going to be holes in the support.

Hi 92Firebirdlady...

I've got a great way out for you - you can share with a newer newbie! I'm in even more of a hurry and have the exact same issue - both my horn and power locks don't work - well my horn does sometimes...

What was the fix for you, or just a link to it, as you had the same combination of problems?

Thanks!

Alex

She replaced the ACC fuse, but I'll say this, if it's an intermittent problem like you said, there may be a wiring problem going to the ACC fuse. You should check the fuse with a multimeter for continuity and replace it if it's bad (or just replace it if you don't have a meter, fuses are pretty cheap)... if that doesn't appear to be the problem, you'll have to dig a bit deeper.

Thanks, I'll be digging deeper then - fuses are all good. I have an intermittent starting problem also....
