I have an 82 Camaro. Through another thread I learned that in 84 or 85 GM changed how the wiper system worked. I think you will have to replace the wiper switch and turn signal lever from the 82 steering wheel to on from an 86 or so. The switch functions and wiring are different between the two systems and that is why you wipers basically don't work now.
As the internal switch functions are different, there is no easy way to mod the 82 switch to work with the 86 system.

If you search using my screen name, back in the Jan - April 07 time frame, and wiper as a key word, you should find a wiring diagram for the 82 pulse wiper. You should be able to find a similar diagram in a Haynes manual for the later system. Then you can see how the switch functions are different.

Yeah, my wipers buzz whenever I turn on the motor. I don't know why, I might just leave them for show, considering it'll be a fair-weather driver.

The attachments below are from the 82 Camaro Service manual, for a tilt steering column. A standard coulmn is similar.Originally Posted by xgtharo86x

As I mentioned above, GM changed the wiper motor assembly and the wiper switch assembly in 84 or 85. At a minimun you are going to need a new or used "Pivot Switch Assembly". You may also need a new turn signal/wiper switch lever, but I don't know for sure. GM makes things interesting in refering to both items as "wiper switch"

Look at Item 4 in the first attachment. The pivot switch assembly and possibility the pivot pin and spring will be needed. Note that the pivot switch assembly has a wire harness attached. This goes to a connector at the bottom of the steering column near the brake. This wire harness connects the pivot switch assembly (and turn signal/ wiper switch lever) to the wiper motor.
While searching around at the AC Delco site, a WSW (Wind Shield Wiper) switch shows up as Part D6380C. NAPA on line has this part for $124, but calls it a Headlight Dimmer Switch. Advance Auto also shows in on their web page as a WSW switch for $132. Note that there are differences among these switches regarding tilt or non tilt steering column and delay or not delay wipers. Just make sure you get one that matches what is in the car.
If you end up needing a new turn signal/wiper switch lever you can get them here for about $20. unless you have curise control then they are about $60.

However I don't think you will need the lever as it appears that it just screws into the column and connects to the Pivot Switch Assembly and the Turn Signal Switch inside the column.
Note that "Pivot Switch Assembly" is the name of the part in both tilt and standard steering columns in the 82 Service manual.
