Anybody got an idea how convert the headlights to the SLEEPY EYED look. I saw a picture and it looked preety cool so i thought id try it. heres the picture I saw.

There are little ***** next to the head lights, turn them and they will raise up. when you pop up the headlights to turn them on, when you turn them off, they wont be sleepy any more. But yeah, it is just a **** next to the head light.

 

The way BullyDawg said is pretty much the only known way to do it. I believe Stephen was trying to figure out a way to make that work through a switch...

 

Personally, I dont think it looks to good on thirdgens. I may look good on an all black firebird, but my white Formula doesn't look to great.

 

Do a search. There are several threads on the "Sleepy Eye" mod.

I just haven't pursued it much anymore, since my bulbs are less than a year old, so I'm not going to go buy new shorter bulbs. Not sure how well a standard sized bulb would project, since it was basically aimed down.

 

well... i did it once at the track when i was linned up next to a sleepy eyed 240, kind of as a joke you know. yeah. i just want to make it clear i think this is retarded. ok.

to do it you turn on your parking lights, and 'tap' the headlight switch ever so slightly. the bulbs will blink on and depending on how much tap you give it the lights will go up about 1/3rd. once the headlight switch is released the lights will go off, but the light doors will stay up. if you cannot get this to work on your rig go to the junkyard and get the most worn out switch you can.

unless you wanted the lights to stay on, which is just silly, cause you will just light up the area behind your bumper. but there is still a way.... do what i said, or raise the lights by hand, and then unplug the headlight motors, then turn the lights on.

 

The sleepy eye mod, is because our stock lights, look like frog eyes. And tapping the switch won't work. The motors have that built in stop. It has nothing to do with how long you hold the switch.

 

Actually I agree with Xophertony and it is possible the way he says. The way I've figured it out is backwards. Turn your lights on. Then push the switch to turn them off. As they shut off/close, quickly turn your parking lights on and the head lights will "freeze" where they are. When I found this out, I actually thought it was spicifically made that way in order to change the bulbs or clean the headlights (before I knew about the ***** on the motors...)
