Removing an alarm: issues.

i've been working on a 91' RS with a 305 recently, and aside of the many problems the car has it has(had) a old Clifford alarm installed, and it was a very hacked installation, anyhow i got mad at it and tore it all out today. the loudspeaker, brain, shock sensors everything. at this point i have 90% of the cars wiring as it ought to be....

however, now the hatch release no longer functions properly, if i ground the brown wire to the chassis it will release, but if i hook the switch up properly and press it, it fails to release, and the air bag lamp flashes then goes away.

any ideas on what someone did to this car?

no the starter kill was between this one yellow wire that came from the column, i took out the starter kill wiring, and patched the wire back together.

Should have worked then, could the problem be elsewhere?

I removed the alarm on mine a few months ago, but the car is at my parents or I would be able to go out to it and see what I did so I could help you out better.

Come on guys, help this dude.

Re: Removing an alarm: issues.

How large of a gague is that Yellow wire? The hatch is easy. That alarm just had a trigger for a 2nd output. That wire you are toucing to make the hatch pop is the gnd trigger. It should go to an aftermarket relay, so you are going to need to trace it where it goes. In a Camaro the hatch button should be in the console forward of the lid. Look under there for a relay added. Remove and connect the factory wires back like they should be. IDK how without looking at it, they couldve rigged it so that the button wouldne control the hatch even without the alarm. But in this business Ive seen alot of ghetto crap. Get back with what you find
