Trip Meter Not Counting Right
Every time that I reset my trip meter, I end up going 1,000 miles on the way home (about 30 miles in reality). The counter is jumpy and then it starts turning numbers in the hundreds and thousands even after only a few miles. My odometer works fine, but the trip meter is worthless. Is this something that I can fix, maybe a gear that needs to be replaced or do I need to replace the entire speedometer?
Thanks

mine doesnt work either. sometimes the tenths will work but nothing else. i've just accepted the fact that stock gauges suck and i'm eventually going to want to replace them. the end of the needle for the temp guage actually got stuck inside the gauge and broke off. now only the stubby end is left, and the guage gets stuck at the limit everytime the car is started. i know its strange but now you have to tap the gauge quite hard every time you start the car and want the guage to work, and even then its only the stubby end that is left. not to mention my tach is useless. tap on the gas and it reads 3,500 rpm. i would like to buy an autometer set from covans classics but i realize they aren't cheap.

Re: Trip Meter Not Counting Right
Well, as far as speedometers go, I can't see any reason why stock wouldn't be as good as any other one since they just read from the cable. There has to be something wrong in whatever makes the numbers turn each mile on the trip meter, I just can't figure out what it could be.
I am adding in a after market oil pressure gauge on my A-pillar due to the problems I have heard the stock ones have but the other gauges seem fine to me.
