Neutral Safety Switch

how do i test or bypass the neutral safety switch? my car won't start and i have checked the starter enable relay and the vats work so the neutral safety switch is the next thing to check

I assume you have an automatic transmission?
There are six wires on the shifter connector (in your center console). Two of them are thick. Probably green and purple but can be of different colors too. You can just pull/cut them out of the connector and join them (solder or butt connector).

However, I would rather replace the shifter switch. I wouldn't want to accidentally start the car in drive or reverse. But that's just my opinion.

How about unplugging the Neutral start switch and making a pigtail to connect the two wires. It will only require two male spade connectors, and a small length of wire.

Its a little more involved than jamming a paper clip in the two large wire ends.

Have you tried starting it in both neutral and park?

Yes, it will work, any way you can connect the two wires. I've even seen a wire cap on them!!!
