Re: Fuel gauge not working

If I'm not mistaken ( I am wrong sometimes ! ) If the electrical connections to the gauge are removed - like a broken wire - then the fuel gauge will shoot past the FULL reading. Where is the needle resting ???

Re: Fuel gauge not working

Its probably a jacked sending unit. This is almost expected of third gens at some point in time.

Re: Fuel gauge not working

My friend had one that had a simular problem and his had a bad connection back by the tank where the wires go from the tank to frame and then up to front, the connector at the tank was bad corroded and the ground wire was pulled and cleaned connector and area it bolts to. The another friend had the wires going into the sending unit in the tank melted together. He took and put a fuel door over where the sending unit is in tank so if it happened again he didnt have to pull the tank, just lift the carpet and open door to get to it.

Re: Fuel gauge not working

I've owned 4 thirdgens now, and 3 of the 4 had bad sending units.

I think it's a trend. lol.
