whats this relay do?

i was digging around in my hatch area on my 82 camaro and found a relay mounted under the far rear panel. Cant find anything in the books about it. what's it for? its by the left taillight on the inside.

I have an 82 Camaro also and am not aware of any relay in the area you describe. What color wires are connected to it? Perhaps you could post a sketch of the wiring ( showing what color wires are connected to the relay coil and what color wires are connected to the relay contacts) or pictures of the relay and its location.

I have a feeling that what you are seeing is the hatch release solenoid which is located in the area that you are describing.

my camaro does not have a hatch pop button, i need to look closer at the object to determine what it really is, i just noticed it. i will post my findings tomorrow
