83 Z28 alternator wiring
need a wiring wizard to help me sort out some stuff.....first how would i go about wiring a alternator from a 89 camaro into my 83 (upgraded to serpintine) 2nd why is my tach off....i just got my 355 installed and figured i could just hook up the tach wire to my hei dizzy......its works, but i know its not right when i reved the engine up pretty good my tach needle tends to interfere with my oil pressure guage and i high doubt im turning 9k and still not flying all to hell.......any help is greatly appreciated.....
somebody said do a 1 wire alternator but i dont think they will fit on the drivers side mounted alternator set up...????

I updated my 82 z28 to a serpentine set up about 4 yrs ago... Off the factory engine harness you mount one wire to the back of the alternator... should be the big red wire... I went and bought the connector and pigtail from the autoparts store to finish out the wiring.. I only used two wires off the new pigtail though... I didnt use the brown wire but I did have to run a wire direct to the battery off the side of the alternator.that should give you a grand total of 4 wires ... one to the back of the alternator ... two which connect to the new pigtail and one that goes from the top back of the alternator to the battery positive... I will check tomorrow to get you the colors of the wires and post a more detailled response but that should help you out for now...
