Re: single wire alternator

Your saying you have a single wired alternator and you just want to know where to wire it? I believe you just need to wire it to a key positive source and your set. Different Companies reccomend using a fuse between the source and the alt. but you dont have to.

Re: single wire alternator

It goes straight to the battery, just hook up the stock power wire to the back of the alternator and your done.

Re: single wire alternator

you know what im asking though? right now, i have the standard plug in alternator. im wondering what i do with the wire plugged into the top, the one in the connector. do i just connect that (as well as the main positive wire) into the battery?

i know i may sound like an idiot, but i just like to double check. better safe than sorry you know, plus im already paranoid of electrical fires after this cars history.

thanks.

Re: single wire alternator

after i started asking around ive begun to see all the advantages and disadvantages. the point wasnt time savings, its was my friend gave me a brand new single wire and mine has been flakey. so i was going to convert, but after a few days of non-stop reading people saying it sucks so much its only for aesthetics (and i dont care a whole lot about form over function) i think ill stick with a 3 wire.

thank you.
