Hatch pull down or Not
I know there was a lot of threads talking about this, but none really answered what I was looking for. Right now I have just the standard powered hatch in my 84 Z28, and I am debating on replacing it with a powered pull down motor. Anyone have any opinions whether it's a good idea or not. The motor I am looking at is completely rebuilt from an 89 Camaro. I always wanted one of these, but I see that a lot of people have problems with them. Plus let me know if there's any modifications that would need to be done, or if it's just a direct bolt on. Thanks in advance!

Re: Hatch pull down or Not
You currenlty have a slam latch with a solenoid hatch release. No it is not a direct bolt-in swap to install the later style latch with a power pull-down motor. You'd need to remove the mounting bracket from your car by grinding off the spot welds, then remove the mounting bracket from a junk car with a power pull-down motor the same way and weld it into your car. It has been done by some members on this site, but as I wrote before it isn't a bolt-in swap.

Well that answered my question quick.
I have a 84, and a 92 parts car and was going to swap the pull down motor from it. Started looking at both and did the
This doesn't look right.
I might end up giving it a try, later on. But not now.
