hey guys i bought an 85 iroc z any way when ever i hook the battery up the running lights come on as if i turned them on with the switch yet i didnt the switch is in the off position. my question is. is is safe to assume that my head light switch is bad ... would that cause this type of problem i pulled the fuze so it would not kill the battery ... but id like to fix this the right way...thanx for the help in advance..

 

do you mean (foglight switch?)
I've never seen running lights on an 85 from factory

 

lol i ment the lights that all come on when you pull the head light switch out one notch instead of two ... ive alwase called them running lights if you pull the head light switch out one notch all the amber lights light up on the front end of the car along with the tail lights end license plate light... my prob is the switch isnt pulled out at all n when ever i hook the battery up they all come on and i have no way of shutting them off.... so i think its the head light switch cause the switch turns all this crap on and off....but obviously isnt working cause its in the off possition yet the running lights are on ...

 

parking lights are what they are normally called, altho running lights is another term, but it sounds like the headlight switch

 

Pain in the a#$, but take the switch out, and apart, see what it looks like. Sounds like some of your contacts are sticking.
In my Sonoma it looked like someone dumped a can of coke over the headlight switch. Took it apart, cleaned it with soap and water. Domelight worked after that.
