Cold out car wont start
Cold out car wont start
This thread may sound something like it dosen't belong here but hear me out. I have 92 camaro rs 305 and it recently quit starting. I cleaned some corrision on the battery cable on the starter and it running fine and it hit -15 deg f. All it dose is click at the starter. Should i replace the battery cable and if so how. Any help please
Re: Cold out car wont start
The battery is fully charged i took it up to murray's auto and had it charged, any other suggestions? possible voltage regulator or wires need to be adjusted on the starter?

Did they do a load test on the battery? Just because it is "charged" and showing 12V does not mean it is a good battery.

The next time the starter is just clicking take a hammer and whack it a couple of times and if it works then your starter is bad.
I doubt it is your battery.

Might be the cable. Test for battery voltage at the starter solenoid.

with that really low temp, you may want to investigate water freezing inside the starter. that happened to me once or twice.

Thats not hard to beleive, but for some reason i usually have problems with cold more then heat. seeing that michigan has the most unpredictable weather. I never had a problem with heat here, it runs perfect when temps are in the hundreds. Running at higher temps is a faster way but it's usually just my luck that it happens right when it's the coldest around here, that could be 5 deg to -15. My next journey is finding the vaccum leak which i have no idea where.
