Power Lock Woes

Okay so I have a keyless entry/alarm installed and my power door locks will only engage partly.

When I hit lock on the remote since my interior buttons do not work, they will engage slightly still allowing me to open the door.

The same goes for the unlock as well.

The only switch that works on the inside is the unlock side of the drivers side switch.

I took off the driver side door panel and tried to lube up everything really well but it still is the same thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Power Lock Woes

lube up some more! I though I was going to have to replace my power door lock actuator when I installed my keyless entry, but I lubed every moving part in the locking mechanisms. I squirted some WD-40 inside the little boot of the actuator and all along the shafts... Thats all I can think of, anything else is replacing the actuators with new ones...

Re: Power Lock Woes

Thank you. I'm going to try that soon. If that doesn't work what is the cost and how hard would it be to replace the actuator?

Re: Power Lock Woes

the cost varies. I got one of my actuators from the junkyard (like $1, $2?). I took a 14.4v drill and used the battery to quickly test to see if it worked... The "hardest part" is removing the actuator from the donor car since its riveted in place. I used a combination of pliers, drill bits, and screwdrivers to pry it off (those rivets are stubborn). Once you get it off, its pretty simple... I'd say no more than 40mins to securely install a new one. If you go the jk route, I'd practice safely removing the plastic poprivets from the donor door panel (so you don't damage yours)... New actuators can be had too, but I'm not sure the price or p/n's for those...
upon installation, you can just bolt the actuator in...

Thank you very much for the help. I need to get some time to open up my door panel again and go for it!

all you need is some torx screws and a flathead screwdriver...nothing to it!
