help. Battery junction block wires.

I need to know where the black with red stripe goes to. I think it might go to be battery but I'm not sure. Mine in my car are cut and I don't have the car running yet. Also I have a cut orange wire on the junction block as well.

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

on my 90 tbi alt wire goes to that junction block. then other wires from it feed the fan and two go to the starter motor. ...... But the alternator wire is joined to one of them orange wires

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

So there is a wire that only goes from the Alt to the junction box. I know I have cut orange wire. What color is the wire from the battery to junction box

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

Not sure of the color I know its black or red cant remember but it goes from the back of the alternator straight to that orange wire on the junction block by the radiator. This wire from back of alternator is maybe 10gauge

opps misread ur post ...... there isnt a wire from that junction block to the battery. other wires go from that junction block to the starter and thats how the charge current reaches the positive cable

I apologize once again LOLOL ... okay this is how mine is ... wire from back of alternator is joined to a orange wire comining off that junction block ..... Then there is a black wire with red stripe that goes straight to the battery cable ..... just checked it.

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

Thank you so much. So I'll run a wire from the Alt to the junction blocks orange wire. Then I'll rum that black wire so the battery. Thanks again. Oh do you know if that orange wire runs up in the bunch of wires in front the battery. I see a cut wire and I rhink I'd will reach the junction box

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

The alt. charge wire I guess could be run directly to the junction block and eliminate the orange wire. but the orange wire that my charge wire goes to is like right by the a/c condensor lines hope that helps.

All the wires that are involved with this junction block are orange. So I doubt even if you hooked it to the wrong orange one it wouldn't charge. I've contemplated bypassing the orange wire since it seems to get pretty hot while car is charging good. But I believe they are fusible links and thats why the charge wire goes to one of them .... This is a 90 TBI firebird v-8 so might be slight diofference in camaro and I'm not sure exactly where the other wires go from this junction block but mine is factory nothing has been cut.

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

thanks. This is an 89 firebird that was a tbi but I converted to a tpi with a painless harness. So some wires got cut but now I should be okay with this help. Thanks

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

I've seen a 89 firebird and everything at this junction block is the same as my 90 ..... so just put charge wire to one of the orange wires and the black wire with red strip to the positive cable and it will charge fine.

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

This is one thing I wish someone produced a replacement for. I have yet to find a good
replacement positive cable that has all the existing factory wiring and doesnt require splicing. Anyone know where I can get one?

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

How do the wires look near the positive terminal? This is wear most of them
end up getting cut, worn, spliced etc. Does anyone know if a TBI is the same as TPI?
Thanks

Re: help. Battery junction block wires.

I have a 1992 camaro TPI positive cable its real nice just need to splice the charge wire from the alternator is all .... pretty easy splice. Cable still has the plug that supplies power to the fans. But yes Its way different then my 89 TBI cable.
